Clea’s First Birthday
I first laid eyes on little Clea when she was about 7 months old. She was crawling around the playground in her little bear suit. Admittedly the cutest thing I’ve ever seen in my life! I knew then that I somehow had to freeze these moments for her parents. These moments are just too precious to experience and not be able to look back on. This was my first time doing a Milestone Birthday Photoshoot and it won't be my last!
In planning this session, I wanted to give them a garden feel with lots of greenery. After all, she is a Spring Baby and the fact that her Birthday Party invitations said "Said Bunny's Turning 1!" I wanted as many flowers as possible with a real garden feel which led to me creating floral letters. What’s a 1st Birthday Photo shoot with letters or numbers involved?
In my search I came across a handful of gardens, however they all were fairly costly. With relocating to Los Angeles and the lack of photo-shoots paying to use a location isn't possible for me at the moment. Luckily my searching led me to a small nursery, Orchid Fever, with more flowers that I could ever think of. It was simply beautiful. Plus the owners were kind enough to let me use their space to my own discretion. A huge thank you to them! Their nursery was perfect! Also, if you’re ever in Culver City you should check them out. They have a vast array of plants, you’re sure to find something to brighten up your home or office.
Little Clea was shy at first. I think my lens was a little intimidating, but once she got to see previews of the photos everything was A-o.k. She was ready!
I really enjoyed photographing this little cutie. And how couldn’t I? She's such a sweet little one with a BIG personality. I just love her! This has been one of my favorite photo shoots to-date. I am overjoyed that everything went as planned. I was able to find a garden setting and photograph her in her nursery :) She has definitely inspired me to photograph more families and children.
